Scarborough is a straightforward drive east for us, and the work here has a different character to the inner east end. Lots are larger, driveways are wider, and there is generally room to get equipment where it needs to go — which makes bigger jobs more economical than they would be downtown.
The trees are bigger too. Established oak, pine, spruce and maple on properties that had space to let them grow properly, plus a great deal of cedar hedging along the property lines of post-war subdivisions.
The Bluffs are a special case
Along the Scarborough Bluffs, trees on and near the slope do real work holding soil in place, and the erosion picture is genuinely serious in places. Removing vegetation from a slope can make an existing erosion problem considerably worse. Properties on or near the bluff face and the ravine systems may fall under conservation authority regulation on top of the City’s by-law, so slope-edge work needs checking before anything is cut.
We will look at the situation and tell you what applies. If a tree is holding a slope together, we will say so.
- Mature oak, pine and spruce on generous lots
- Long cedar hedge runs — a large part of our Scarborough work
- Good equipment access, which keeps larger removals affordable
- Slope and ravine considerations near the Bluffs, Highland Creek and the Rouge
We work across Birch Cliff, Cliffside, Guildwood, Scarborough Village, Kingston Road and the surrounding streets.
